Fast Facts

Founded by the Texas Legislature in 1969 to become a “university of the first class”, UTSA has exceeded those expectations by becoming one of the most diverse, dynamic, and largest public universities in the state. The second largest of the UT System, UTSA has remained true to its mission of being an institution of access and excellence, serving as a center for intellectual and creative resources as well as a catalyst for socioeconomic development for Texas, the nation, and the world. UTSA ranks third overall in the total number of undergraduate degrees awarded to Hispanics in the country. It represents the San Antonio community with all the benefits of a big city and hospitality, personal attention, and feel of a small town.
