Fast Facts
The U.S. Air Force Academy is one of five military service academies that educates and trains young men and women in academics, leadership, character and athletics. The mission of the Academy is to educate, train and inspire men and women to become officers of character motivated to lead the United States Air Force in service to our nation. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Science degree in one of 31 majors and commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. The Academy has 27 NCAA Division I athletic teams. This institution offers many unique opportunities and programs, to include aviation programs, and about 50 percent of graduates are assigned an aviation career field. There are numerous other career fields the Air Force offers, ranging from engineering and acquisitions to intelligence and public affairs. The campus is located just north of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and 55 miles south of Denver.
