Program Description
Central Scholarship Bureau is a private, non-profit organization that offers need-based financial aid to Maryland students pursuing postsecondary education. Our mission is to provide financial assistance to students through grants and non-interest bearing loans and to help students make sound financial choices about their education. CSB administers almost 30 different scholarship programs.

Organization History
In 1924, Moses Rothschild, Lillie Straus, along with other community leaders in Baltimore, envisioned an organization that would provide funds "for study in the fields of professional and vocational training". The created Central Scholarship Bureau (CSB). Over the years, other generous donors have continued to add funds to CSB to help the organization grow. SInce 1924, thousands of individuals from Maryland have received grants, scholarships and no-interest loans from CSB.
