Organization History
Since 1981, Marin Education Fund has worked to ensure that everyone has a chance at college.  We hold the vision that one day all students, regardless of ethnicity or socioeconomic background, will have equal access to a full range of educational opportunities.

Impact driven and results oriented, we pioneered the effective combination of college access programming with scholarship support. To ensure our scholarships serve students most in need in our community, Marin Education Fund developed outreach programs, taking workshops on college admission and financial aid into the community.  We work closely with local high school and community-based organizations to spread the word about our programs.

Alumni of Marin Education Fund programs return as volunteers, mentors, interns and donors and go one to become the teachers, doctors and community leaders that are the future of our community.

Program Description
Marin Education Fund is dedicated to creating equal access for all students who want to go to college.  We achieve this by advocating for change in our community and by supporting students to successfully access, pursue and complete higher education.  We direct our outreach and resources to groups who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education, students from low-income households, and those who have not yet sent a family member to college.

Our flagship program, the Summer Application Institute, is a free one-week college dormitory experience to help students entering their junior and senior year of high school develop successful college and financial aid applications. With admission test preparation, college and financial aid workshops, college day tours and year round mentoring, students get the preparation they need to get to college. Over 98% of students who complete the Summer Application Institute enroll in college.
