Program Description
ACE Plus is a scholarship-based early outreach and college preparation program for high school students.  The program is designed to take the "fear factor" out of college for stuednts who may be the first members of their families to attend college and for any student at risk of not enrolling and succeeding in a college or university environment.  The program targets high school sophomores in 12 local high schools.  Successful applicants receive a two-year scholarship that allows them to take college classes while they are still in high school.  Students who are active in the program for the two years can earn up to 24 college credits by the time they gradaute from high school.
 
Students who participate in the ACE Plus Program receive:
*Academic Advisement
*Mentoring
*College preparation
*Career exploration
*Enrichment seminars
*Financial Aid and scholarship workshops
*Personal and study skills workshops
*Field trips to colleges and universities
 
ACE Plus achievements:
*92-96% of high school students affiliated with ACE Plus graduate from high school
*80-85% of ACE Plus graduates go on to attend post-secondary academic institutions
*ACE Plus students on average earn a 3.0 GPA
*ACE Plus has helped more than 3000 students continue their education beyond high school
 
Organization History
The ACE Plus Program was established in 1990 at Glendale Community College as an effort to increase the number of minority,or financially-disadvbantaged, or first-generation college-bound graduate from high school and make a smooth transition to higher education.
 
 
Partners and Supporters
The ACE Plus Program partners with 12 high schools representing 5 school districts.  They are as follows:
*Phoenix School District: Alhambra High School, Maryvale High School, and Trevor Browne High School.
*Glendale School District:Apollo High School, Glendale High School, Independence High School, and Moon Valley High School.
*Deer Valley School District: Barry Goldwater High School and Deer Valley High School.
*Dysart School District: Dysart High School.
*Peoria School District: Peoria High School.
 
In addition, the program partners with the state colleges and universities, private colleges and universities, business, industry and foundations.
