Program Description

By hiring recent college graduates, the Keystone College Advising Corps will identify, assist, and empower students to make the transition from high school to a post-secondary institution. Advisers work full time and focus on low-income, first generation students, mentoring these students through the increasingly complex and costly steps in post-secondary education. Advisers also work closely with guidance counselors and school administration to provide the necessary resources and support to raise post-secondary matriculation rates.

Organizational History

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation has pledged a $1 million grant to Franklin & Marshall College over four years to undertake the Keystone College Advising Corps with its three partner institutions: Dickinson College, Millersville University, and Shippensburg University. Beginning in the fall of 2008, eight KCAC Advisers entered fourteen high schools in Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Lancaster, and Mifflin Counties as part of the first Advising Corps. Serving as College Advisers, our staff works with cooperating high schools to raise matriculation rates that have been identified as below the Pennsylvania state average.
